Advanced Playwright
Take your test automation to the next level. In this intensive one-day course, you'll learn how to use design patterns, SOLID principles and modern Playwright techniques to build a test framework that is maintainable, scalable and reliable.
From writing tests to building frameworks
You've mastered the basics of test automation. But what's the next step? Teams now expect more than a working test: they expect a maintainable, scalable and reliable test framework. They expect you to know when to apply which pattern, how to manage your test data and how to integrate your tests seamlessly into your CI/CD pipeline.
And yes, AI can generate a test. But can it write a well-designed test suite that still works next month? That's exactly why understanding patterns and principles matters more than ever. In this training, we'll discuss where AI genuinely helps with test automation and where your craftsmanship makes the difference.
You'll spend a full day diving into best practices, design patterns, SOLID principles and modern Playwright techniques. Expect hands-on work with resistance: you won't just write a page object, you'll rewrite poorly written test code, identify anti-patterns and build a framework that scales.
Beyond the technology, you'll also focus on collaboration with your team. You'll learn how to communicate your test architecture, how to get developers on board and how to position yourself as the person who safeguards, drives and champions quality within your team. The training is developed and delivered by Betabit specialists who work on business-critical software every day.
🕐 Duration: 1 day (intensive course day, including hands-on assignments).
👥 Target audience: Experienced testers and QA engineers ready to grow to the next level. You've mastered the basics of Playwright (navigation, locators, assertions), have experience with test automation in a professional environment, and have a basic knowledge of TypeScript (types, interfaces, async/await).
What you’ll learn
After a joint kick-off in which we share goals and experiences, you'll work through five blocks that combine theory with direct application in code:
- SOLID for test code
- The five principles translated to test automation, with TypeScript examples
- Why well-designed test code is just as important as well-designed production code
- Advanced Playwright techniques
- Fixtures, typed page objects and custom test steps
- Integrated API and UI testing in a single strategy
- Design patterns deep dive
- Page Object, Screenplay, Adapter and Factory: when do you apply which pattern?
- Test data management with factories and fixtures
- Broadening your test strategy
- Visual testing and accessibility testing with Playwright
- CI/CD integration with sharding, parallelization and the trace viewer
- Refactoring and embedding
- Recognizing and refactoring anti-patterns in existing test code
- Retrospective: your takeaways and concrete next steps
A test framework that keeps working
After this training, you'll build test frameworks that remain maintainable and scalable, even as your application and team grow. You'll choose patterns deliberately, keep your test data manageable and integrate your tests smoothly into the CI/CD pipeline. That's the next step in your craftsmanship as a tester: from writing tests to designing quality.
