Privacy is under pressure in today’s society. In this digital world, we do our best to make use of the advantages of new technology in a fair, transparent, and responsible way, without compromising your privacy. We believe privacy is an important right and one of the foundations of our democratic rule of law, for which everyone has a responsibility. This applies to us as a software company too. In short, we set great store by privacy.


How does Betabit handle your data?

Betabit collects and processes personal data where this is necessary to provide its services. It's important to us that this is done in a careful, confidential, and transparent way, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and related laws and regulations. Betabit is very meticulous about processing your personal data. 

Purpose of the processing  
We only process data that is necessary to facilitate the best possible service, for the execution of services agreed and related activities, for approaching and staying in touch with customers, suppliers, business partners, and for offering services, performing marketing and communications activities, and recruiting and selecting staff. 

Categories of personal data we process  
Depending on the purpose of the processing, we will ask you for specific personal details. For example, we need a valid email address to be able to send a newsletter or email invitation about an event and we need contact and invoicing information to provide services. 

For customers (current and future), business partners, suppliers, and interested parties or visitors of events, we process name, telephone number, and email address. For potential new employees, we process name, telephone number, and email address. If we start up a recruitment process, we also process the CV we received, moments of contact, and assessment scores. 

When approaching potential new employees, Betabit uses social media portals for business services. 

Security, sharing, and storage  
Betabit has implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures, in line with the relevant laws and regulations, to prevent abuse of and unauthorized access to your personal data. Betabit staff only has access to your data if this is necessary for the performance of their duties. 

Betabit treats your personal data as confidential. We share your personal data with others only in the following situations:  

  • You have instructed or explicitly allowed us to do so. 
  • Betabit must provide your personal data in order to comply with a statutory obligation or judicial verdict. 
  • It is necessary for the provision of our services. 

Betabit doesn't retain your personal data any longer than is strictly necessary for the fulfillment of the purpose for which they were collected or for which they are being processed. 

Transfer abroad  
If we transfer your personal data abroad (for example by using service providers located outside the EU), we will only do so if appropriate safeguards are in place. 


Information about use of the website and cookies

Betabit uses cookies on its website. Cookies are data in a small file that is stored on the hard drive of your computer, tablet, or smartphone or in your browser session.

We use the Google Analytics cookie to analyse the numbers of visitors and visitor flows on our website and optimize our content. We want to make sure the site is as relevant as possible for our visitors and use Google Analytics to do so. We don't automatically save your individual profile. This is a very conscious decision. If you ask for special information or want to register for a newsletter, we collect your first and/or last name, email address, and any mobile or fixed telephone number. You provide us with these details.


Your rights as a data subject

At any time, you may request more specific information about our privacy policy and the processing steps Betabit takes in its capacity as a data controller.

You have the right to inspect the personal data of yours that we processed, and you may request a copy of it. Also, you may check whether the data stored is correct and, if necessary, have it corrected.

In addition, you have the right to request that the personal data processed by Betabit be removed or deactivated. And, finally, in certain situations, you may also request that we transfer specific personal data you provided to, for example, another organisation.

Betabit will respond to your request within one month from the day it was received. If this is not possible, Betabit will inform you about this within one month after receipt of your request and let you know when you can expect a substantive response.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

Betabit reserves the right to change this privacy statement because we aim to keep this text as simple and clear as possible. This privacy statement was last changed on 6 July 2018, but we believe there's always room for improvement. If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to let us know.
