Our history

Since our start in 2002, we have been building Betabit step by step. Below, you’ll find the key moments that have shaped us.

The founding of Betabit

2002

On 1 October 2002, Olav and Luc founded Betabit. Their first assignment came from their mother. They built a customer management system and a new website for her shop.
The first major contract: Philips

2003

In 2003, Betabit developed an integration between Curnext.com and Philips. This major assignment led to a professional contract and membership with NederlandICT, now NLDigital.
Our first product: crystalclerk.com

2005

Between 2003 and 2005, Betabit developed the cash-flow application CrystalClerk. Despite successful training sessions at ING, there turned out to be no market for it. A valuable lesson: success starts with the customer.
Regional strategy

2006

After this experience, Betabit decided to focus on software development for others. With our regional strategy, we stay close to customers and talent, growing by remaining small.
Betabit Eindhoven

2007

In 2007, Betabit opened its first regional office outside Rotterdam, in Eindhoven, near Eindhoven Airport.
First in the Netherlands: Azure

2008

At the end of 2008, Betabit discovered Microsoft Azure and saw the future of cloud computing. Betabit became the first company in the Netherlands to focus entirely on software development in Azure.
Betabit Amsterdam

2014

The second regional office is opened in Amsterdam.
A first venture

2014

Together with Otto Wilten and Jeroen Kruithof, Betabit founded the company Virtual Vaults. Combining their technical expertise and market experience, they built the best data room in Europe.
A second venture

2019

Betabit launched its second venture, YieldDD. A specialized team focuses entirely on software due diligence, built on experience in mergers, acquisitions and business critical software.
Betabit Apeldoorn

2021

Our newest regional office opens in Apeldoorn, at a unique location near the Apenheul.
Acquisition of Interstellar

2024

With the acquisition of Interstellar’s software development team, Betabit further expands its services and lays the foundation for a strategic partnership.
Acquisition of Senet

2025

Betabit acquires Senet. A perfect match for further growth in Managed Software Development.
